Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disease of the nervous system marked by tremors, muscle rigidity and slow, imprecise movements. It is caused by a loss of nerve cells in the part of the brain called the substantia nigra. Nerve cells in this pat of the brain are responsible for producing a chemical called dopamine; it acts as a messenger between the parts of brain and the nervous system that help to co-ordinate body movements.

The wearables will have sensors, electronics and software that collects data from patients, when they are at home to send to doctors over the internet. This gives doctors a time period to make informed decisions about the patient cares.
The gloves have sensors on the finger and thumbs that measure the tremors and rigidity. The smart gloves can be connected to smart phones to process data and deliver it to the neurologists in their offices who can then manage an effective treatment.
The socks can be used on those who have suffered with strokes as the software can measure the patients gait to doctors and physical therapists so they can tailor the rehabilitation to the individuals case.
If this software is successful, it could really help improve lives not only with the tailored treatment, but allowing people to live without always being in a hospital. This could be a really beneficial wearable.
